We surprised Glenn at our May meeting by assigning him to speak about LDAP in July.

LDAP stands for "Lightweight Directory Access Protocol", and is a protocol for accessing on-line directory services (mostly for addressbook-style lookups). LDAP gained commercial support through the efforts of Microsoft (through Active Directory), Novell (through eDirectory), Oracle (through Oracle Internet Directory), Apple (through Open Directory) and others.

If you'd like to learn more about LDAP prior to the meeting, feel free to read the LDAP HOWTO hosted by the Linux Documentation Project.

This topic will go along nicely with Richard Mott's talk on eGroupware back in May. We hope to see you all there!

Also, we're going to do another round-table this month. This time, bring your favorite website URL to the meeting. It can be anything you want, technology, Linux or other... as long as you find it useful and want to demonstrate it for the group. Bring a few of your favorites, in case someone else has the same favorite as you.

Don't forget, we'll have pizza and soda before the meeting... so if you don't want to miss the food, come early!
