Warm up the grills! Thaw those hotdogs and hamburgers! Break out your buns! (ok, don't break out your buns, but bring some bread for the hotdogs)

The ECLUG Summer Picnic is upon us!

There will be no meeting in July because of the picnic this month, so you get a few weeks of extra time to prepare...

There might be geeks..

There might be Linux..

There may be giveaways...

But there will definitely be lots of fun!

Friends, colleagues, family children and any penguins you might find are always welcome and appreciated.

Directions
The location is in a new development, and not on any map on the Internet. The best way to get there is to follow Glenn's directions.

Here is a photo of the building (also included in Glenn's directions), in case you drive by it and aren't sure if you're lost.

We're being charged a small fee to secure the building by the facility, but this guarantees that we will not have to give up the space to another party during the day.

If you can, please consider donating a few dollars to help us offset this cost. Use the donate links at the upper-right of this website to help out.

What do I need to bring?
There's a few things you'll need, and a few things we might need also.

  1. A camera... because you just never know when someone will do something worthy of capturing for their embarrassment later... ;)
  2. Carry sunscreen, insect repellent and extra layers of clothing. You never know when you'll need them, and if it rains and we're stuck inside, you'll be thankful you brought them.
  3. Any food, drinks, snacks or anything else you think you'd like to bring for yourself or others. Don't count on everyone having brought everything, be prepared. Someone always forgets something :)
  4. Outdoor fun items; frisbee, wiffle ball/bat, soccer ball, football, kite, whatever you think you'll want to keep yourself, your family or children interested.
  5. Any Linux giveaways you think you'd like others to have, bring them along. This can include CDs/DVDs, Linux t-shirts (unworn, of course :), magazines or the like.
  6. If you plan on hanging around outside on the lawn or eating on the grass, bring a blanket or something to sit outside.
  7. Bring plenty of beverages to drink, including water. Stay hydrated. The sun may be out and you'll dry up fast.
  8. If you can remember, please bring some napkins or paper towels. We always run out of those fast, and you don't want to be stuck without some.

What do YOU need?
We could use a lot of things to make this a success...

  • Bring yourself! It can't be fun and successful if we don't have people there. Bring your friends, family, colleagues, anyone who you can think of who has an interest in Linux and Open Source. They can be a beginner, advanced or anyone else. Bring them along for the day.
  • Paper napkins, plates and plastic utensils. We may pick these up from the local BJs or Costco, but having more so we don't run out would be great.
  • Trash bags, because cleanup is a lot less fun when you run out of those too.
  • Any extra food items you think others would enjoy. Want to bring your mother's world-famous potato salad and asparagus pie? Bring it along! Potato chips? Jello? Anything you think other people would enjoy trying, feel free to bring it.
  • If you can donate to help us fund the facility/building rental and some of the picnic supplies, please do. You can use PayPal by putting in the address of 'donations@eclug.net', and we'll receive them.

Most of all, HAVE FUN!!
